I’ve always loved Rye. We grew a little bit on the farm in Michigan when I was a boy. I enjoy a nice glass of Rye Whiskey, neat. A nice salty sandwich on a good piece of rye bread is a favorite. I wanted to create a beer for me. Over 12 revisions and 2 years later, my Butcher in the Rye™ is officially my all-time favorite beer. It’s bitter, it’s sharp, it’s smooth, and it’s got some punch a hint of fruitiness. It’s just under 7% alcohol and brings a smile to my face (and some others) every time I take a sip.
